Sanremo Round Table
Since its foundation, the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, in the context of its institutional and statutory objectives of training, research and dissemination of the provisions in force in the various areas of international humanitarian law, has organized an annual September Round Table on Current Issues of International Humanitarian Law which is regularly held in Sanremo.
The 46th Sanremo Round Table on Current Issues of IHL, traditionally organised in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, focused on
“Strengthening IHL compliance: the conduct of hostilities, the protection of essential services and humanitarian assistance in contemporary armed conflict“
This year, the Round Table will be held in Sanremo in a hybrid format on 14-15 September 2023, with sessions allowing for remote participation. The Round Table, with the participation of high-level international experts and practitioners, will investigate some of the most crucial issues related to the conduct of hostilities and the protection of essential services in the complex framework of contemporary armed conflict, with a further key focus on the crucial issue of safeguarding the delivery of humanitarian assistance in such contexts.
